Celebrate Pensacola, Inc., Sponsors 450th Anniversary Poster Contest
Winning Artist To Receive $1,000 Award
Pensacola, Fla. -- April 14, 2008 –- Artists can leave their mark on Pensacola’s history by designing the signature poster for the 450th anniversary celebration. Celebrate Pensacola, Inc., a non-profit organization managing the celebration, is hosting the poster contest to commemorate Pensacola’s founding in 1559 and reflect the rich history, culture and events that have made Pensacola the fascinating community it is today. The 450th celebration will begin May 23, 2008 and end 450 days later on August 15, 2009.
Amateur and professional artists of any age are invited to submit poster designs representing the 450-year history of Pensacola. The winning artist will receive $1,000. The contest deadline is noon on Monday, May 19. The winning poster design will be unveiled at the 450th kick-off celebration held at 5 p.m. on May 23 on Palafox Place surrounding the fountain at the Escambia County Courthouse.
Contest rules:
- Entry art must be a minimum of 14 inches by 24 inches and no larger than 24 inches by 36 inches. Any medium is permitted. Artists must submit an original piece.
- No more than two designs may be submitted per person.
- Entries should be delivered to the Pensacola Bay Area Visitors Information Center at the north end of the Pensacola Bay Bridge.
- The winning entry is the sole property of Celebrate Pensacola, Inc., and may not be reproduced, including the original artwork and any images.
- Celebrate Pensacola, Inc., accepts no liability for damaged or lost artwork.
- There will be a maximum of 400 limited-edition posters.
- Celebrate Pensacola, Inc., reserves the right to accept or reject all work submitted during the competition.
- A signed contract will be provided for both parties.
