52nd Annual Navy Cup Regatta

The Navy Yacht Club will marks its 84th Birthday along with their 52nd year of hosting the prestigious Navy Cup - a local area sailboat competition where the competitors are yacht club against yacht club in a team challenge for the historic Navy Cup Trophy. In addition, the Navy Yacht Club will be commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the ending of World War II and role that the Naval Air Station Pensacola- the Cradle of Naval Aviation had in the war effort promoting Victory Florida the Viva Florida initiative promoting Floridas History and Culture. Sailboat Races will be held throughout the weekend in Bayou Grande and in Pensacola Bay with on-shore race activities being held at the Navy Yacht Club facility located at the Bayou Grande Marina on Naval Air Station Pensacola. Free Dock Space at the marina will be available for all participants throughout the weekend. Individual PHRF (Performance Handicap Racing Formula) sailboats from the local area yacht clubs (any yacht club in the Gulf Coast area that may have an interest in the competition team sailing is invited to sail) will be competing in various class divisions such as: Spinnaker and Non-Spinnaker Cruiser Fleets out in the Bay on Saturday only. Various small one-design sailboats such as: Hunter 18s and Sunfish will be sailing in the confines of the bayou on Sunday only. The format for the Navy Cup race will include Team racing with each yacht club competing against each other for the coveted Navy Cup Trophy. This event is open to all sailors (whether they belong to a yacht club or not). Special trophies will be given to the top 3 winners in each class division. Registration check-in & Skippers Meeting for the Navy Cup event will be held from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on Friday, June 12th, 2015 with the Skippers Briefing at 6:00 PM at the Navy Yacht Club facility aboard the Pensacola Naval Air Station (please enter the Navy base from Navy Blvd. front gate entrance) Race Day Check-in for the PHRF Spinnaker & Non Spinnaker Cruiser Classes will be held from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Saturday morning, June 13th at the Navy Yacht Club Facility with the first race starting at 12:00 Noon. All one design racing will be held in Bayou Grande on Sunday only and can be seen from the observation deck at the Navy Yacht Club facility. Sundays Race Day Registration check-in will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM with a 12:00 Noon race start. Sailors will tentatively be back on shore by 4:00 PM each day for the After Race Party that will be held following each days competition. The presentation of the Navy Cup Trophy and Class Awards will be held ASAP after the last race is completed on Sunday.

Events begin 11 a.m.; Fireworks 9 p.m.
For the 26th year, area Sertoma organizations are once again coordinating and hosting the largest Fireworks display on the Gulf Coast over Pensacola Bay. There will be activities throughout the day, from 11:00 am until 6:30 pm, in Seville Square to include a FREE Childrens Area with inflatables and pony rides, Arts and Crafts vendors, Food vendors, and live entertainment on the gazebo stage beginning at 11:00 am, with a Hot Dog Eating Contest at noon! Starting at 4:00, there will be live music on the Bayfront Stage, featuring regional bands. The festivities will culminate with the fireworks show over Pensacola Bay, synchronized with music broadcast on Cat Country FM 98.7.

Festival hours are Friday & Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The three-day, juried art show draws more than 200 of the nations best painters, potters, sculptors, jewelers, graphic artists, craftsmen and other artists. The event features live musicians in Fountain Park with sounds ranging from Zydeco, bluegrass, jazz and blues to classical. Local dance schools and groups perform daily. The Children's Arts Festival is next door in Bartram Park, featuring numerous hands-on artistic opportunities provided free of charge. The Childrens Festival is open Friday for children with special needs from selected schools and is open to everyone on Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The race begins and ends at Veteran's Memorial Park on the bayfront then winds its way along a 13.1 mile circuit of the city for the half marathoners and a full 26.2 loop for the full marathon. The course features running through historic neighborhoods, the downtown district, bands, and cheering Pensacolians. The finish line is next to the only replica of the National Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, D.C. The Pensacola Marathon is also a Boston Qualifier for you still needing to qualify.

33rd Annual Pensacola Christmas Parade

The Christmas Parade includes local bands from every high school in Escambia County, groups from around the region, and as far away as Houston and New Orleans. The Cox Pensacola Christmas Parade profits go to local high school band booster organizations to assist in the purchasing of uniforms and equipment and funding of travel expenses. Preceding the parade is the popular 1.2 miles Christmas Parade Dash, sponsored by the Pensacola Runners Association. With nearly 400 participants each year, the Dash uses the Cox Pensacola Christmas parade route just prior to the start of the parade. The race begins at 5:00 pm and is a maze through the downtown area lined with thousands of people cheering. The course ends at Plaza Ferdinand where a large candy cane is handed to each finisher. Celebrate the Arts is a juried, fine arts and crafts festival that brings quality national, regional and local artists to Gulf Breeze, Florida. The two-day fine arts & fine crafts festival is a family event. More than 140 artists from across the US and beyond will be selected by a jury of fine artist professionals. Artwork categories include ceramics & pottery, oils & acrylics, glass, sculpture, watercolor, wood, fiber & leather, jewelry, mixed media, graphics, photography and other. Cash awards of $7,000 will be awarded to the winning artists. We will also have a childrens entertainment and student artwork area, GBAI Member Art Show/Sale, a wide variety of festival food vendors, plus music and entertainment.
