The art is an eclectic collection of paintings and sculpture collected by Ms. Baroco. Art in the collection runs the gamut from a Greek Icon to an African mask of beads and cowrie shells from the Kuba tribe of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Outsider Art of Toby Hollinghead, a whimsical driftwood sculpture by Chris Cumbie and works of art by well-known local artists will also be included in the exhibit. Of the 45 works on display, more than half are of various other mediums from well-known local artists.

Spades, Dominoes, and Chess game tournament. If you like playing either of these games, come out and show your skills. Registration is $25 per person. If playing spades, register with your partner. You must have your own partner when playing spades. If playing Dominoes or Chess the game is one on one. There will be first place prizes and runner-up prizes. Tickets can be purchased at Ahmad Cutz (ask for Carlos), Sky's the Limit Cheerleading, or Mr. Sharks Fish and Chicken. You can also purchase via paypal by sending payment to akilahtw@yahoo.com. Please enter your name (and/or partner), phone number, and game that you will be playing in the message box. If purchasing via paypal, tickets will be held at the door for you. Tickets must be purchased by August 10th.

ThunderRun Super Boat Grand Prix
Races begin 1 p.m. & 3 p.m.
You will not want to miss the INAUGURAL ThunderRun Super Boat Grand Prix Championship, a family-friendly event that can be viewed from the shores of Pensacola Bay at Maritime Park. The public is also welcome to view the races from their favorite restaurant/bar, Nick's Boat House. At our exciting VIP Tent located at Plaza de Luna, there will be a catered buffet lunch. Feel like a VIP's and view the races from Jacos Bar and Grill which, is also located at Plaza de Luna. VIP passes can be purchased on our website www.thunderonthegulf.com. Race Village opens from 10am-'til on August 23 and from 10am-5pm on August 24, 2014. VIP Areas are open at 11:00 am. Races begin at 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. There will be a Shootout on the Bay, Boat Parade, Street Party, Vendors, Entertainment and much more during this 2 day event. There is a one time $5.00 entry fee for Race Village for adults and children over 15. Your wristband allows for entry and reentry for the weekend. Viewing the races is free to the public.

Great Gulfcoast Arts Festival
Festival hours are Friday & Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. | Sunday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The three-day, juried art show draws more than 200 of the nations best painters, potters, sculptors, jewelers, graphic artists, craftsmen and other artists. The event features live musicians in Fountain Park with sounds ranging from Zydeco, bluegrass, jazz and blues to classical. Local dance schools and groups perform daily. The Children's Arts Festival is next door in Bartram Park, featuring numerous hands-on artistic opportunities provided free of charge. The Childrens Festival is open Friday for children with special needs from selected schools and is open to everyone on Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The race begins and ends at Veteran's Memorial Park on the bayfront then winds its way along a 13.1 mile circuit of the city for the half marathoners and a full 26.2 loop for the full marathon. The course features running through historic neighborhoods, the downtown district, bands, and cheering Pensacolians. The finish line is next to the only replica of the National Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, D.C. The Pensacola Marathon is also a Boston Qualifier for you still needing to qualify.

Cox Pensacola Christmas Parade

The Christmas Parade includes local bands from every high school in Escambia County, groups from around the region, and as far away as Houston and New Orleans. The Cox Pensacola Christmas Parade profits go to local high school band booster organizations to assist in the purchasing of uniforms and equipment and funding of travel expenses. Preceding the parade is the popular 1.2 miles Christmas Parade Dash, sponsored by the Pensacola Runners Association. With nearly 400 participants each year, the Dash uses the Cox Pensacola Christmas parade route just prior to the start of the parade. The race begins at 5:00 pm and is a maze through the downtown area lined with thousands of people cheering. The course ends at Plaza Ferdinand where a large candy cane is handed to each finisher. The Pensacola Double Bridge Run 15K carries runners over two bridges, across Pensacola Bay and Santa Rosa Sound. It will run from downtown Pensacola with a tour that includes the historic district, and picturesque Bayfront Parkway, a run through Gulf Breeze, and onto Pensacola Beach. The 5K invites both runners and walkers to travel from Gulf Breeze to beautiful Pensacola Beach on Santa Rosa Island and the Gulf Islands Seashore.

The 38th Annual McGuires St. Patricks Day 5k Run starts and finishes at McGuires Irish Pub in the beautiful downtown Pensacola! Event begins at 9 a.m. Each Runner/Walker predicts how long it will take them to complete the course, the finishers that come closest to their prediction wins. Awards are also given for speed winners in several male, female and team categories.
