Visit Pensacola Announces “Invite A Friend” Winners

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Sept. 3, 2010 – Six lucky visitors have won a vacation to the Pensacola Bay Area as part of the “Invite A Friend” summer promotion.

Local residents Dorothy Brown, Bret Kanis and Christopher May and visitors Teresa Cunningham, Patti Berry and Rhonda Rhodes entered the promotion this summer to bring a friend into the Pensacola Bay Area. Their friends, who are from Mahomet, Ill., Newburgh, Ind., Southlake, Texas, Morganville, NJ, Seattle and Lutz, Fla., received a free vacation to the area.

“We have a very excited household,” said Dorothy Brown, Pensacola area resident. “Thanks for the great news that our son-in-law, Andrew, won the trip to Pensacola. He and our daughter have been married just over a year, and they will love this vacation to Florida. Fall is the best time to come.”

All six winners will receive a three-night’s stay in the Pensacola Bay Area along with gift certificates for restaurants and attractions. The grand prize winner will receive two round-trip tickets from the Pensacola Gulf Coast Regional Airport. Lodging sponsors are Courtyard by Marriott – University Mall, Fairfield Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites – University Mall, Holiday Inn – Davis Highway, Resort Quest, Southern Resorts Vacation Rentals and SpringHill Suites. Other sponsors are The Grand Marlin, Nancy’s Haute Affairs, Famous Dave’s, Lost Key Golf Club, Sam’s Fun City, Fast Eddie’s Fun Center, Fish House, National Naval Aviation Museum, J.W. “Invite A Friend is just one of several special promotions we’ve launched this summer to bring visitors to the area,” said Ed Schroeder, vice president of tourism for the Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce. “After a challenging summer, we’re doing all we can to tell our visitors we are open for business. Special thanks to our tourism partners for their wonderful participation in this contest.”

The “Invite A Friend” promotion was paid for by a BP grant to the state of Florida, which then distributed funds to Escambia County.
