GIRLFRIEND GETAWAYS

From cooking classes and sailing lessons to a girls down under excursion and feminine fishing, the Pensacola Bay Area brings an array of activities allowing girlfriends, new and old, to relax and reconnect. And of course, there’s always just sunbathing on the beautiful beaches.

SHOPPING
The Pensacola Historic District is a charming, waterfront neighborhood. The Pensacola Historic District Merchants feature more than 20 historic buildings, dozens of locally owned restaurants, boutiques, cultural museums and art galleries. Shoppers choose from fine imported textiles, eclectic home furnishings, work from local potters, painters and glass artists, unique and trendy clothing and hand-made jewelry. Ladies can also shop for great food at Joe Patti’s Seafood, where they can ship fresh seafood home. For tasty southern pecans and sweets, J.W. Renfroe Pecan Company is to-die-for.

GIRLS NIGHT OUT
Distinctive Kitchens in downtown Pensacola offers themed cooking classes from “Cool Crispy Cuisine” to “Tantalizing Thai.” The Fish House deck offers a full bar, views of Pensacola Bay and live music on Friday and Saturday nights. Seville Quarter is the place to party in Downtown Pensacola. The 19th century building includes eight individual entertainment venues. Ladies sing karaoke, dance to live music, sing along with dueling pianists or relax in the open-air courtyard bar.

RELAX AND REJUVENATE
Girls get spoiled with full-service spa treatments from Portofino Medical Spa in Gulf Breeze or Still Waters Medical Spa in Downtown Pensacola. Guests unwind with a one-hour massage, a one-hour facial, a manicure and a pedicure. Private yoga lessons on the beach are also available at Portofino Resort & Spa.

GIRLS DAY UNDER
Explore beneath the surface with a personalized scuba charter through several local companies. Friends discover the world’s largest artificial reef, retired aircraft carrier USS Oriskany, or design their own itinerary with hopes to swim with whale sharks, Goliath grouper, sea turtles or giant manta rays.

ADVENTURE CLUB
Guests build friendship and trust at Adventures Unlimited. Those up for the challenge can try the high and low ropes course or explore Coldwater Creek with a kayak expedition. Cabins are also available for a secluded girls’ hideaway. Lanier Sailing Academy teaches ladies the ropes of a smooth sail or an extensive, six day/five night “Cruise and Learn” class. Fishin’ Chix, a fishing club for Pensacola women, hosts several tournaments throughout the year.
