The dog-days are officially upon us. As pooches make their way into homes, hearts, and families all over the world, they make their way into our communities as well.

Recently named as one of the best small cities in the United States by National Geographic Travel, the publication specified the Pensacola Bay Area because of its numbers of restaurants that allow pups, as well as a large number of pet shops and grooming spots. So, the next time you start planning your PTO, plan Fido in as well. The Pensacola Bay Area has plenty to offer for our furry friends. Why deny your four-legged buddy the chance for a new adventure too?
The largest elephant in the room, calling all of those pesky hotels and awkwardly asking “Do you accept pets” and getting the exhausted sigh followed by a grumble and then a big fat no. While some hotels have a small fee to accommodate your furry friend, that can be cheaper than boarding or paying a sitter most of the time, plus you get to avoid those sad puppy eyes when you go out the door on vacation. Below are a few dog-friendly hotels in the Pensacola Bay Area.
Nothing says vacation like enjoying a local brew with your pup. Pensacola offers a multitude of pet-friendly patios across the county. On Pensacola Beach enjoy life-sized games on the lawn at Red Fish Blue Fish, Café Nola, Pensacola Beach RV Resort, Paradise Inn and Surf and Sand Hotel. In Perdido Key, pups are welcome on the patios of most of the Flora-Bama properties and Sunset Grille. Over in Downtown Pensacola, almost any restaurant with a patio is game for Fido. A few of our favorites include Pensacola Bay Brewery, Single Fin Café, Jaco’s Bayfront Bar & Grille, and all along Palafox.
The Pensacola Bay Area has a number of trails perfect for you and your four-legged friend to hike and bike.
The Pensacola are offers six dogs parks for you to take your furry friend for a walk on the beach, a swim in the gulf or a nice day at the park. Be sure to bring a LONG leash with you if your dog is an avid swimmer, or prepare to brave the waves with him, for all dogs are required to be on leash at all times. Doggie bags, disposable waste bins and handy wipes are available at all locations. And remember, when exiting the beach, please leave behind only foot and paw-prints.
