What happens when Visit Florida gathers together a group of Instagramers in the Pensacola Bay Area? A whole lot of fun and a ton of great photos!

We recently got to share some unique Pensacola experiences with a select group of Instagramers as part of Visit Florida’s #48hrsofSunshine Instameet.

The #48HrsofSunshine event was organized with the goal of rallying Florida fans to come together throughout the state over one weekend (June 4 and 5) and experience some of the most unique activities Florida has to offer. Here’s a taste of of our unique experience exploring the Pensacola Bay Area.

#1 Breakfast and Historic Pensacola Village

After a breakfast meet and greet at the Voices of Pensacola Multicultural Center, we strolled over to Historic Pensacola Village for a behind the scenes tour. It was all aboard the cable car for a quick group selfie and then on to tour historic cottages to learn about colonial life in Pensacola.

#2 Ferried by boat to Pensacola Beach

Next, we boarded Key Sailing’s dolphin cruise boat and began our journey over Pensacola Bay and the Santa Rosa Sound to Pensacola Beach. On the trip, Gulf Islands National Seashore Superintendent Dan Brown schooled us on the ferry service that’s set to launch in spring of 2017. The group was stoked to learn that daily ferry service will soon be available to transport folks between Downtown Pensacola, Fort Pickens and Pensacola Beach Boardwalk.

#3 Tasting Lionfish at Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front

Next up was a trip to the Hilton Pensacola Beach Gulf Front where the group learned about the beautiful, yet invasive (and tasty) lionfish that are becoming prolific in the Gulf. Pensacola Celebrity Chef Dan Dunn provided a lionfish cooking demonstration and then we indulged in a delicious lionfish and oyster salad followed by goat cheese cheesecake for dessert. Yum!

#4 Pensacola Beach Bushwacker Experience

No trip to Pensacola Beach is complete without its signature cocktail, the Bushwacker, and this was no exception.

#5 Breathtaking views of Pensacola Beach

We wrapped up the day with an elevator ride to the 17th floor of the hotel where we were treated to spectacular views of the island.
