Let’s face it, by mid-September my mind is begging for cooler weather and all things fall. I love being able to bundle up in flannels for football tailgating and seeing the leaves change. And everyone knows that fall = pumpkin everything! That’s the real reason I’m excited for the seasons to change.
My heart sings when pumpkin hits the local restaurants, so I’ve rounded up some of my favorite Pensacola pumpkin finds. ‘Tis the season y’all!
Only the most basic item on the list is indulging in a pumpkin spice latte. Cozied up on Palafox Street, Fosko Coffee Barre goes beyond just the regular PSL by offering a pumpkin spice mocha and even a pumpkin spice cappuccino. Now that’s one way to put a little pep in your step!
For another sip to get you warmed up, you can hop on over to Pensacola Bay Brewery for their vanilla pumpkin porter and check out Old Hickory Whiskey Bar’s handcrafters P.S. I Love You cocktail made with Pumpkin Vodka, Bubba's Secret Still Spice Liqueur, Lemon, Saline Solution, Pumpkin Puree, and St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram. Yum!
Forget Grandma’s pumpkin pie because your taste buds are going to explode with all of the delicious pumpkin eats, starting with Apple Market’s well-known pumpkin bread. Baked daily with a family recipe, their pumpkin bread is addicting…about as good as their pumpkin mousse.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why not throw some pumpkin flavor? I am obsessed with Bagelheads on the regular, but my trips become even more frequent when they roll out their pumpkin cream cheese and pumpkin muffins. OMG! And you can keep the breakfast going with the most delicious pumpkin pancakes at Scenic 90 Café. Absolutely to die for!
I mean, yeah, all of these can be considered treats. But pumpkin sweets are on a whole new level! Whether it’s steaming outside or a little nippy, Wild Honey Yogurt is one of my faves. They’ve always got new flavors of frozen yogurt…including pumpkin! Topped with some candied pecans and some hot caramel and I’m in hog heaven.
Another spot to satisfy your sweet tooth is Smallcakes Cupcakery & Creamery where they also have pumpkin spice cupcakes and an assortment of other fall flavors.
There’s literally a pumpkin something for whatever you’re craving. I mean pumpkin really should have its own block on the food pyramid. Okay maybe a little too far, but you have to jump on the pumpkin spice while you can.
