Shoes Not Required

If you just can’t bear to leave the beautiful beaches, check out these popular spots on Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key.

The legendary Flora-Bama sits on the Florida-Alabama State Line on Perdido Key. Voted the best beach bar in the country a hundred times over, the Flora-Bama is famous for its annual Mullet Toss festival and for being a source of inspiration for the likes of Kenny Chesney and Jimmy Buffett.

Mullet Toss

The folks at the Flora-Bama are experts in a good time, and they cater to the gaming crowd every weekday from 1 to 4 p.m. with bar bingo. Take a spot at the bar, order a dozen oysters and stamp your way to free drinks. If you’re at The Bama, you’ve already won.

If you prefer to say closer to the city but still want to bury your toes in the sand, check out Red Fish, Blue Fish on Pensacola Beach. Coined “the best backyard on the beach” this casual restaurant and bar is great spot for the whole family with cornhole, giant checkers, and giant Connect Four and some of the best views of Pensacola Bay.

Some games are best played in the sand, so if you’re feeling athletic drop into Flounders any day of the week for beach volleyball. Along with some of the best calamari anywhere and the infamous Diesel Fuel cocktail, beach volleyball at Flounders is a Pensacola Beach classic.

Come On Down

Downtown Pensacola has exploded to life over the last decade, and Palafox Street is the heart of the city’s nightlife. With dozens of bars and restaurants, there’s always a game night somewhere.

No list like this would be complete without a nod to the city’s premier barcade, PLAY!. Tucked away in a second-story walk up on Palafox Street, Play! Is packed from wall to wall with classic arcade games, air hockey, skeeball – you name it. If gaming is a priority, Play! Is your fist stop.

Looking for a good local brew and a laid-back atmosphere for your large group? Look no further than Perfect Plain, the city’s newest brewery and home to best trivia night downtown. Trivia is every Monday from 7 to 9 p.m., but the giant Jenga set and cornhole boards are set up all week long!

If you’re partial to the classics, head back down Palafox to O’Riley's, the best place downtown for billiards and darts. The pool tables on the second floor are popular, so don’t be afraid to put your quarters down to get a game.

Take A Dive

This last spot is one that only the locals know about. If you’re looking for something old-school, something authentic, The Elbow Room on Cervantes Street is a local legend.

The Elbow Room may not look like much from the outside, but step inside and you’re transported back in time to a classic, eclectic neighborhood bar that hasn’t changed much since opening in 1963. Pinball machines, shuffleboard, darts, bar bowling – the Elbow Room games are as timeless as the bar itself.
