The Tall Ships Are Coming! ® The Tall Ships Are Coming! ® While some of you are looking over your shoulder for signs of impending doom, rest assured your safety is intact. Pensacola will pay tribute to its maritime history April 12-15, as it welcomes six Tall Ships® from all over the world for the Tall Ships Challenge Gulf Coast Series. The Tall Ships® Pensacola festival will feature a Parade of Sails, three complete festival days, onboard tours, VIP events and private ship receptions. Here’s what you need to know before you go.
Parade of Sails
An awe-inspiring moment for all, The Parade of Sails is the first event on the docket for the weekend. Set to begin at approximately 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, all six ships will cruise into Pensacola at full-sail. The route will begin approximately at the Pensacola Lighthouse and end at Commendencia Slip. Patrons wanting to sneak a view at the majestic vessels will have many vantage points to do so such as Fort Pickens and the Gulf Islands National Seashore, Vince J. Whibbs Sr. Community Maritime Park, waterfront restaurants such as Nick’s Boathouse and Jaco’s Bayfront Bar & Grill, and Palafox Pier. For anyone interested in joining the parade in their own private vessel, contact Michelle Sarra at email@example.com.
Onboard Tours Ship Tours
The real bread and butter of the weekend, onboard ship tours. Guests will have the opportunity to tour four static ship displays from all over the world, the Elissa, Oliver Hazard Perry, Picton Castle, and the Oosterschelde. Onboard ship tours will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 6 p.m. Members of the crew will be stationed around various parts of the vessel to answer any questions you may have. Tickets for the onboard tours include festival access.
Sail Away Adventure
Set sail on one of the ships during Tall Ships® Pensacola. In addition to the four large static vessels, two smaller sail away ships will host 75-minute and 90-minute sail away excursions on Pensacola Bay.
