Eclectic Fidelities, Presented by Pensacola State College
As part of a collaboration between the Visual Arts Department and Performing Arts Department at Pensacola State College, “Eclectic Fidelities” will feature artwork and performances celebrating women in the arts. Rachel Livedalen, an Associate Professor of Printmaking at Texas Christian University, will be exhibiting paintings, prints, and drawings in the Charles W. Lamar Studio of the Anna Lamar Switzer Center for Visual Arts.
Livedalen’s artistic practice revolves around an exploration of femininity within visual culture and draws inspiration from various sources such as the art historical canon, consumer products, and pop culture. She engages in a process of manipulating historic art objects to shed light on their significance within academia, society, and culture as a whole.
At the opening reception for the exhibition display, Livedalen will be presenting an Artist Lecture about her work, and will engage in a Q&A session with the audience. Livedalen will also be leading two hands-on workshops in which participants can learn about the monoprinting process while experimenting with the inclusion of mixed media techniques such as drawing, collage, and stenciling.
