Emancipation Day Celebration
Ella Jordan African American Museum is excited to announce the second annual Pensacola Emancipation Celebration. The celebration will take place on Sunday, May 18, 2025 in an effort to educate the community about the historical significance of Florida’s observed Emancipation Day. Cities like Pensacola in the State of Florida are acknowledging this special day of freedom.
During the ceremony a reenactment of the May 20, 1865 reading of the Emancipation Proclamation will take place.
