Crawfish Festival Spices Up Downtown

Spicy crawfish, hot music in Historic Downtown Pensacola

Prepare for messy fingers and burning lips as you peel your way through boxes of boiled crawfish at the Fiesta of Five Flags Crawfish Festival.

Each spring the festival in Bartram Park adds a little spice to Pensacola’s southern style with more than 16,000 pounds of this Cajun staple plus a wide range of crawfish poboys and crawfish pies.

The 2017 event is April 28, 29 and 30 in Bartram Park, on the water in Downtown Pensacola.

Not crazy for crawfish? The open-air, waterfront event also serves up other traditional Cajun fare as well as festival favorites like hot dogs, hamburgers, fried treats and sweets.

But the giant cauldrons of boiled crawfish are the festival’s most popular attraction. They are prepared traditionally with potatoes, corn-on-the-cob and a whole lot of spice and seasoning to go perfectly with a sunny day, cool breeze, icy drink and live Cajun music.

The Children’s Area, sponsored by COX, will be open on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. offering cost-friendly arts and crafts, face painting, wands, balloons, games and the popular NASCRAW crawfish races.

Confident in your mudbug-peeling prowess? Enter the annual crawfish-eating contest held daily during the event with division for kids, adults, and CrawDADDIES!

Admission is $5 daily or $10 for a weekend pass (children 12 and under get in free). Admission before 3 p.m. on April 28 is free! The event also offers free admission for active duty military with ID on April 28.
