Happy New Year! I can’t believe I’m saying it, but here we are. After an incredibly blessed 2018, the Visit Pensacola team is excited for new opportunities in the new year. In less than 30 days, the Pensacola Bay Area is seeing a boom in business from airline development to new restaurants, new hotels and so much more.
This past month, Frontier Airlines announced nonstop service to Philadelphia. This marks the second direct flight from Pensacola to Philadelphia following last years addition from United Airlines. Moreover, United Airlines announced Saturday nonstop service to Denver, making it the second direct flight from Pensacola International to Denver following last year’s addition from Frontier Airlines. United Airlines will also be launching a direct flight to Newark Liberty International Airport on June 6.
To add to the excitement, Pensacola has been awarded a Mississippi Blues Trail Marker. Set in the Belmont-Devilliers neighborhood, the marker is the 203rd marker added to the trail and only the second marker in the state of Florida. Developed in 2003, the Mississippi Blues Commission was created to promote the understanding of Blues history. In 2006, the first marker installations for the trail were dedicated, identifying significant contributions to the Blues’ musical heritage across the southeast. Belmont-Devilliers is being recognized for its early contributions for blues, ragtime, vaudeville and jazz activity. I encourage you all to go see and experience the new marker.
To round up all of the other additions in the area, the staff at Visit Pensacola has compiled an easy to use listing that includes hotels, renovations, unique spaces, attractions and more. I’d like to encourage you all to look it over and to have it on hand to help your front-line staffs. To view it, click here. If you have any questions, please let me know, my door is always open.
