UK and Germany remain Pensacola’s top European markets and demand for rooms in our area has steadily increased over the last few years with the addition of direct flights into New Orleans from London and Germany and our co-operative marketing efforts with Visit Florida. Due to this increase, operators are consistently asking Visit Pensacola for assistance locating sleeping rooms or properties that would be interested in working with them. The following information will explain the role of Receptive Tour Operators (RTO), International Tour Operators (TO), and how your unsold rooms can work for you.
Receptive Tour Operators (RTO) like New World Travel, Bonotel, TourMappers, and Travalco, to name a few, are based in the US and serve as a liaison and booking agent between local accommodations and the international market. A discounted or FIT/wholesale rate for a limited number of rooms is agreed upon between the RTO and the property, which is immediately marketed to tour operators and travel agencies globally via internet and trade shows, business to business only, not consumers.
International Tour Operators (TO) like Bon Voyage Tours that is visiting Pensacola this month, purchases rooms from RTO’s to package and resale to consumers. Accommodations will not be charged for advertising and marketing expenses as this is covered by the negotiated discounted room rate.
Please let us know if you are interested in working with or are working with RTO’s so we can help promote your property. Also, join us this year at Florida Huddle and IPW for the opportunity to discuss your property with tour operators looking for rooms in our area. Please contact Lori Coppels at 850-432-4209 or firstname.lastname@example.org with questions or information regarding your property.
