Aloha, y'all! After leaving my island home of Hawaii of 6 years, I relocated to this beautiful city in 2017 and have enjoyed exploring it ever since I stepped off the plane.

My background of a journalism and studies of Marine Biology go hand-in-hand with life in Pensacola.

Most days you can find me at the beach- soaking up the sun, either scouring the high tide line or floating in the water face down searching for gifts from the Gulf.

With an unquenchable thirst for investigating and sharing, I'm always ready to "dive in" and immerse myself in the local art, restaurants, shops, history, and culture of this charming city.

I look forward to sharing my love of Pensacola with you!

John Starrett

As a Florida native to NWFL, John Starrett grew up in the water. From surfing to free diving, he has always been immersed in the water culture and water man lifestyle. It is because of this love affair with all things liquid he has used his imagery to raise awareness of our dying Florida Springs and our vanishing marine life; both within salt and fresh water environments. He continues to work with several conservation agencies and groups, in hopes to inspire future generations to carry on in the efforts to protect and nurture our marine waterways, lakes and oceans.

I’m Vy Nguyen, born and raised in Pensacola, Florida. I’ve fallen in love more and more with Pensacola over the years as I’ve gotten older. I’ve enjoyed seeing the growth of Pensacola. I’m a huge foodie so I love to travel for FOOD, near and far. So supporting locals and being able to share my experiences, favorite dishes and hangout places is what I love to do most on a daily! I can talk about Pensacola and what we have to offer for hours if a stranger asked me about my home. I want everyone to know that Florida doesn’t just consist of Disney World and Miami. The Panhandle is pretty awesome too! Along with being a huge foodie, I’ve been in the beauty industry for almost 14 years in Pensacola. First, specializing in nails, later on found a love in doing makeup and now lash extensions and permanent makeup brows. Growing up in Florida, of course I’ve become a beach bum and a little spoiled by our beaches. I try to go every chance I get. It’s something about the ocean air that makes me feel at peace and more so grateful for being able to call Pensacola my home. I don’t think I plan on moving away any time soon. Our beaches are like no other!

I'm Sherry, mom of three, wife of a Wyoming cowboy, and a Bostonian myself. After enjoying life in the Army, we settled in Pensacola in 2017. After moving to Pensacola, I was inspired to create my food blog, www.backyard-bohemian.com. My favorite part of my job is highlighting local farms in the Pensacola region, helping people truly connect with farm to table ideas. When I am not scouring our white sugar beaches for conches, I am in my kitchen cooking up healthy family meals, or playing with my chickens. Raising my family in our small city has been nothing short of a fairytale. Our city remains true to Southern hospitality, big city amenities with a small-town feel, and some of America's most beautiful landscapes.
