Pensacola for Pets
Are you planning a vacation this summer, but want to bring your furry friend along? The Pensacola Bay Area is pet-friendly, offering a variety of parks and events especially for you and your bud.
There are several dog parks located throughout the Pensacola Bay Area, including the dog beach and dog park at Bayview Park, Roger Scott Complex Dog Park and Shoreline Bark Park. The dog park at Bayview Park is a protected acre on Bayou Texar for dogs to run and play. Next to the park is a fenced dog beach where your dog can cool off in the water. Roger Scott Complex Dog Park, located on Summit Boulevard near the Pensacola Gulf Coast Regional Airport, provides dogs with the freedom to play with and meet new friends. Shoreline Bark Park, off Shoreline Park in Gulf Breeze, is 30,000 square feet of grassy area with benches, trash cans and doggie bags.
If you enjoy being active with your pet, the Pensacola Bay Area has a variety of beautiful pet-friendly trails to explore. Navy Point Walking Trail has more than two miles of a paved walking trail along Bayou Grande, ideal for a walk you and your buddy can enjoy together. Bay Bluffs Park on Scenic Highway has a boardwalk and nature trail where your dog can explore the shaded bluffs.
The Pensacola Bay Area also offers several annual events for pets. Barktoberfest, a fund-raiser event held every October for the Humane Society, is a day for dogs to eat and play in historic Seville Square. During Mardi Gras, the Krewe of Junkanoo Kritter Krawl takes place on Pensacola Beach. This parade of pets includes creatures from snakes and lizards to dogs and horses, all decked out in their Mardi Gras garb.
Pensacola has a list of pet-friendly lodging and outdoor dining.
