Family Fun and Adventure

Add one part activity, one part relaxation and one part value, and you'll see why the Pensacola Bay Area provides the perfect recipe for an amazing and affordable family vacation.

Attractions and activities of every kind - bike riding, snorkeling, water park rides, pier fishing, learning about the past at historical sites, and much more - mean big family fun for visitors.

Swimming in gentle surf, building castles on spun-sugar sand and relaxing in a casual waterfront restaurant add up to quiet, connected time together. Add to that a reasonable price tag and everyone is happy.

Come to the Pensacola Bay Area and discover why it's been named one of the top family-friendly destinations in the United States by Southern Living magazine.

Beach It Up

If relaxing is your thing - search for shells, build sandcastles, wade in the water, or simply dig your toes in the sand and sit back with a good book for the ultimate unplugged experience.  For the more active - rent paddleboards and kayaks and take a ride along the shores of the Gulf of Mexico or travel by bike along the beach sidewalks or through the trails of Fort Pickens, a part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. Climb on the remains of the historic fort while you’re there.

Follow another trail — one that tells of the local ecosystem and abundant wildlife you can find when you explore the Footprints in the Sand Eco-Trail.

Spot fish or catch your own along the Pensacola Beach Fishing Pier — no experience or fishing gear needed! Consider capping the day off with a relaxing dolphin cruise or sunset sail. Several companies in the Pensacola Bay Area offer both excursions.

Head Inland

More adventures await inland! Zip line for hours or tube down the Coldwater Creek when you visit Adventures Unlimited. Race around in a go-kart or play a round of miniature golf at Fast Eddie’s. Slip and slide with your kids down four huge, winding water slides, or leisurely float around the lazy river at Sam’s Surf City.

Catch a ballgame while visiting as well. Watch the Pensacola Blue Wahoos take on their Double-A opponents in the award-winning, bayfront Community Maritime Park.

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! The Gulf Breeze Zoo features everything from gorillas to gators, tiny monkeys to hippos, giraffes to exotic birds, and more.

Search for hidden treasures throughout the Pensacola Bay Area when you embark on the numerous geocaching trails.

Or catch a live practice session of the Navy’s elite Blue Angels performance team at their home base aboard NAS Pensacola on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 11 a.m. Remember to bring a pad and pencil for the autograph session that follows afterward on Wednesdays.

Finding Ample Activities Indoors

If you need a break from the outdoors and are in search of some much-coveted air conditioning - especially during the summer, you’ll find it easily at these local attractions.  Sit back, relax and take in an IMAX movie after checking out more than 150 military aircraft on display at the National Naval Aviation Museum on board Pensacola Naval Air Station. Have a ball bowling at DeLuna Lanes, roll into Dreamland Roller Skate Center to experience some glow-in-the-dark skating, or go skateboarding at Pensacola's only indoor skate park located inside Waterboyz Surf and Skate Shop.

Experience art and culture in the numerous museums that dot the Pensacola Bay Area. Visit the Pensacola Children’s Museum or Pensacola M.E.S.S. Hall for an interactive and educational experience with your kids. Take in a performance at the Saenger or Pensacola Little Theatre

Finally, be sure to make time to bring home souvenirs of your adventures by shopping along Palafox Street in Downtown Pensacola or on the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk.

For the family of any size and any age, Pensacola will be the key to unlocking the vacation destination of your dreams - a place where you and yours will continue to escape to for years to come.
