What could be better than eating lots of delicious food and exploring a new city with your closest friends? Ehh, not much. That’s what Friendsgiving is all about. Whether it be in your hometown or vacation time spent to the fullest, enjoying the perfect Friendsgiving is easier than recreating Grandma’s famous cornbread dressing. Pensacola’s got you covered for where to eat, sleep and play this holiday season.

First, you have to find the right digs to stay in… a place that’s accommodating but also has character and located close to the all the hot spots. The first place that comes to mind is The Lee House’s Sweet Shop Cottage. Located in historic downtown Pensacola, this cozy cottage is just a few blocks from shopping and all of the good eats. Fun fact: The original 1879 historic cottage was the site of the Seville Sweet Shop as well as Jamie’s restaurant before being remodeled into a beautiful 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom house.

With a place to stay, food and entertainment are the next essential items. Being just minutes from downtown’s biggest streets, there’s plenty to do and eat. Enjoy a pub crawl on Palafox Street or jump a few streets over and enjoy some local beers at local breweries like Perfect Plain, Pensacola Bay Brewery and Gulf Coast Brewery.

When it comes time to take a snack break, you can make a pit stop into Hopjacks, Tin Cow or enjoy some airstream food truck restaurants at Al Fresco.

But let’s face it, Thanksgiving is all about those homemade sides and entrees that really make it feel like home…leaving you in a food coma for the rest of the day. For some home-cooked sides ready-to-go or a one-stop shop for all of your recipe needs, Apple Market is the place to go. They have everything from prepackaged sides (family recipe, of course) to local BBQ sauces and mouth-watering seven-layer chocolate cakes. Eat, play, and nap. Yeah sounds pretty accurate to what an ideal Friendsgiving would be.

But when you’ve recovered from all of the eating, there’s entertainment to keep you going. The Vineyard is a unique spot in one of Pensacola’s best neighborhoods. Home to a wide selection of wine, they also have movie nights under the stars on their outdoor patio and local music shows.

There’s also entertainment to be had at Escape on Palafox or go for a stroll around NAS Pensacola and burn off some of those extra calories by climbing 177 steps to the top of the Pensacola Lighthouse.

Friendsgiving is about making memories and enjoying all of the foods with friends you love the most. And whether it’s a weekend trip with friends or a break from the family shenanigans, Pensacola’s got your covered.
