UWF Symphonic Band in Concert
The University of West Florida Dr. Grier Williams School of Music will present the UWF Symphonic Band in their “Tyranny and Freedom” concert. Under the direction of Dr. Sean Kelley, the Symphonic Band will perform a variety of pieces featuring programmatic works on topics of war, oppression, hope, and salvation. Opening the program is "Without Warning," by Stephen Melillo, followed by "Largo" from Dvorak's celebrated Ninth Symphony, "From the New World," and "Music for Prague, 1968" by Czechoslovakian composer Karel Husa. Closing the concert is "Chester," a battle hymn written by America's first composer, WIlliam Billings.
