Pensacola Beach

Gulf-front hotels, primitive campsites and even a bonafide flying saucer are among the list of “top-flight” accommodations in this island paradise.

Pensacola Beach is located on Santa Rosa Island, a narrow strip of dunes and sea oats that has long protected the city of Pensacola from hurricanes and invading forces. It was here that Pensacola’s earliest European settlers first made landfall, and it was here that the American government chose to locate Ft. Pickens.

These days, the island’s sugar-white sand and turquoise water have made it a vacation mecca for tourists from all over the world who enjoy a wide variety of lodging options — most within walking distance from the shops, restaurants and nightlife of the main beach.
