The biggest game of the year is almost upon us. Where are you going to watch the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII?
Well, if you don’t have tickets to be there in person at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Feb. 4, the next-best place might be right here in the Pensacola area, with tons of watch parties planned — and better weather, too, we’ll wager!
Here are five to check out:
Purple Parrot Tiki Bar & Grill
Sure, the tailgating will be fine in Minnesota, but are they having a tiki party? I don’t think so!
So instead, check out the party at the Purple Parrot Tiki Bar & Grill, 13555 Perdido Key Drive. K-Pow Girls will be presenting this all-ages, family-friendly, stadium-style celebration beginning at 2 p.m. with tailgating treats and live music leading up to kickoff.
“There will be a bog grill set up with hot dogs, hamburgers, wings and pizza,” said Katie Helpman of K-Pow Girls. “We will have lots of games including squares, 50-50, and football-style games, such as kick the ball furthest, with football-inspired prizes and bar tabs.”
The big game itself will be shown on two 13-foot screens with stadium-style seating. At halftime, you’ll get more than just Justin Timberlake, as the K-Pow Girls will perform a fun dance routine and pepper the crowd with swag before Mr. Sexyback takes the stage.
Other attractions include a Super Bowl-inspired photo booth, Bud Light girls with Bid Light specials and swag and more.
Admission is free, but a VIP viewing area is available with front-row seating, tables and servers. Additionally, team wristbands are available for $5, with touchdown shots served (to those of drinking age) when your team scores.
In downtown Pensacola, you can expect that almost any occasion comes with a big celebration at Seville Quarter, 130 E. Government St., and the Super Bowl is no exception.
The fun starts at 4 p.m., and there’s no charge to enter the venerable entertainment complex, which will have the big game in HD on 15 screens in four rooms.
Chow down on a special tailgate menu as you enjoy $12 buckets of Miller Lite as well as a full bar. Fans can sign up for a free square, with winners announced between each quarter. Try your hand at Super Bowl trivia and get set for some great prizes giveaways.
In Pensacola’s quaint East Hill neighborhood, The Vineyard is planning a Super Bowl bash inside and outside the historic Old Sacred Heart Hospital building at 1010 N. 12th Ave.
ey’re saying it will be Pensacola’s largest outdoor watch party, with big screens and stadium sound.
Bistro, beer and wine fare will be available for order from the eclectic menu, which includes burgers, sandwiches, Cajun, seafood and Asian fare.
Capt’n Fun Beach Club
Capt’n Fun Beach Club, 400 Quietwater Beach Boulevard on the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk, is planning “The Biggest Super Bowl Sunday Funday on the Coast” this year, starting at 3 p.m.
The food at this one will be top-notch, with Capt’n Fun planning one of its famous crawfish boils as well as offering 55-cent wings, $2 tacos and drink specials. No matter whether your team wins or loses, you’re going home happy from this one.
Hooters on Pensacola Beach
Elsewhere on the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk, you could go home a big winner yourself. At Hooters on Pensacola Beach, 400 Quietwater Beach Road, one lucky Super Bowl watcher will take home a brand new Sharp 50-inch 4K Ultra-high definition TV. You must show proof that you follow Hooters of Pensacola Beach on Facebook to register to win, and you must be present for the drawing at the start of the fourth quarter of the game.
Many other Pensacola-area establishments will plan viewing parties of their own, including World of Beer, 200 Palafox Place, and Bamboo Willie’s on Pensacola Beach, 400 Quietwater Beach Road. Details on those celebrations were scarce at deadline, but it’s harder to miss the Super Bowl than it is to catch it.
No matter which watering hole you step into on Feb. 4, the game is sure to be on!
