Your Guide to Cool, Casual Dining in Pensacola
Visiting Pensacola but looking for something a little more laid back? We've got your guide to casual dining in Pensacola. This assortment of restaurants is…
Pensacola’s easy navigation and wide variety of activities make it an excellent destination for solo travelers. For women especially, the city feels safe, accessible, and welcoming—whether you’re exploring its waterways, visiting museums, enjoying great restaurants and cafés, or trying unique fitness experiences.
Another easy way to get on the water is to ride the Pensacola Bay City Ferry. From March through October, air-conditioned ferries run on a regular schedule from downtown Pensacola, across the beautiful bay to Fort Pickens, then over to Quietwater Beach Boardwalk on Pensacola Beach, which is full of great eateries and shops. As a solo traveler, you can beat the traffic while enjoying one or all of these destinations, thanks to the ferry’s hop-on/hop-off ticket. Additionally, from March through December, you can take in a weekend sunset cruise or a weekday Blue Angels practice (check schedules first).
If you prefer to enjoy the water from a beach, you have plenty of options within the Gulf Islands National Seashore spanning from Johnson Beach in Perdido Key to Fort Pickens to Opal Beach – each with easy parking and amenities. Check out Horizon Beach Service to rent chairs, umbrellas and anything else you might need for a carefree day. If swimming is on your agenda, remember that only strong swimmers should enter the Gulf, and solo swimmers should stay close to one of the lifeguard towers.
Theater lovers should check out the performance schedules (and possible single-ticket deals) at The Saenger Theatre, Pensacola Little Theatre, and the Mainstage Theatre at the University of West Florida.
And fitness lovers should check out Pensacola’s many drop-in exercise classes. Favorites include Yoga Abode’s beach yoga every Tuesday and Uru Yoga and Beyond’s in-studio classes on Pensacola’s north side. Female solo travelers are welcome to join group hiking adventures hosted by Disko Lemonade’s HIKEyoga events. These take place on some of Pensacola’s best trails and blend hiking and yoga movements in the most interesting ways! For cat lovers, try the 45-minute Paws and Pilates class at the Coastal Cat Café which blends “gentle movement and feline companionship” (reservations required).
Whether you’re looking to relax, explore, or enjoy great dining and entertainment, Pensacola is an ideal destination for solo travelers. Women can confidently traverse the city and experience everything it has to offer. And because Pensacola is continually evolving in the most welcoming ways, returning solo visitors will always find something new to discover and appreciate.
