It's a Dog's Life on the Beach

Dogs need vacations, too, and just like their owners, they want to have fun. The Pensacola Bay Area is a paradise for pets and those who love and pamper them. The Pensacola Bay Area has plenty to offer for our furry friends. Why deny your four-legged buddy the chance for a new adventure too?

The Pensacola Bay Area provides ample opportunity for pet lovers to give their furry friends a chance to make their own paw-prints on the area.

In the dog days of summer, your dog can cool off at the Bayview Dog Park & Beach, a favorite East Hill neighborhood spot overlooking Bayou Texar. Dogs have a whole acre to run and play without a leash, plus their very own beach access where they are free to roll around in the sand and swim in an enclosed area of the bayou. Wash stations are provided for rinsing off after a day of fun.

The Perdido Key Dog Park located on River Road is a quaint little dog beach hidden behind Lost Key Golf Club. The enclosed park backs up to Old River in Perdido Key and provides water access for the dogs to swim and play off leash. The park also features a covered pavilion area for humans to take shade.

Pensacola Beach has two designated dog parks on the gulf, open 7 a.m. until sunset in the summer and sunrise to sunset during winter months. The Pensacola Beach Dog Beach West is located along Fort Pickens Road at the first parking lot past the last condos on the Gulf. The Pensacola Beach Dog Beach East is located at Lot E on Via de Luna Drive, the first parking lot past Portofino Island Resort. All dogs are required to be on a leash at all times within both parks, and signs are posted to designate the dog-friendly areas. Doggie bags, disposable bins and handy wipes are available at both locations.

And remember, when exiting all dog beaches, leave only foot and paw-prints behind.
