Planning a visit to downtown Pensacola? Here’s what you need to know.
Palafox is open for business!
Construction on Palafox Street is underway. The sidewalks will remain open so that you can still easily access your favorite downtown businesses.
What to Expect
- Businesses, restaurants, and events remain open and accessible
- Clearly marked pedestrian pathways at all times
- Temporary fencing and work zones along portions of Palafox Street
- Occasional noise during daytime work hours
- Gallery Night will continue to take place, with a reduced footprint on the southern portion of Jefferson Street.
- The Pensacola Mardi Gras Parade will roll merrily along a slightly different route.
- Palafox Market (at both MLK Plaza and Plaza Ferdinand) will still be very active every Saturday from 9 AM - 2 PM.

What does The New Palafox Project accomplish?
Palafox Street is getting a long-overdue upgrade. For the first time since 1999, new stormwater and ADA improvements are underway to make downtown safer, more accessible, and more welcoming for everyone.
The project adds over 1,700 feet of new stormwater piping capable of handling up to 93,000 gallons of water, along with 46 new ADA-compliant curb ramps, shorter crosswalks, and four elevated mid-block crossings.
You'll also see new benches, litter receptacles, and more than 2,000 feet of the America's First Settlement Trail coming to life along Palafox.
