Congratulations! You finally popped the question, and you’ve probably spent the last several months agreeing to whatever plans your fiancée has for the wedding, sight unseen and without a second thought. Reason being? You’re already checked out and ready for the bachelor trip.
Slow down though, because just like the wedding is being planned meticulously, so should your bachelor trip, because you get ONE shot to get it right. So why not make it count and do it in Pensacola? Let’s break down the key components of a great bachelor trip, and how Pensacola meets (and exceeds) those expectations.
Chances are, your groomsmen are a combination of siblings, friends from high school and/or friends from college. Put simply: they don’t know each other. So why not do something that will create some awesome memories? Pensacola Beach and Perdido Key are GREAT for fishing charters, and there are tons to choose from. Me personally, I’ve used Hot Spots Charters, and just as the name suggests, they know the best fishing spots around (ask for Captain Jarrod!). Pro tip: go during red snapper season! It changes every year, but you can take what you’ve caught to most local beach restaurants and they’ll cook it how you like it. Some of the best fish you’ll ever have, and it tastes better because YOU caught it.
But what about lunch? A Mano Panino, Four Winds, Scenic 90, Sammy Barkers, Taste of Jerusalem, Clean Eatz (especially when you need to detox), and on and on…
For those that are able to wake up early enough and need some coffee and breakfast, Bagelheads, Alla Prima, Fosko, The Drowsy Poet (locations ALL over Pensacola), Coffee Guy…should I keep going?
Pro tip: not really a tip, but there are not a lot of wrong choices. I guess you’ll have to come back and try the ones you miss…
Golf may not be for everyone, but it’s a great excuse to spend some time in the sun, whack some balls around and share some laughs and libations. When it comes to the links, Pensacola does NOT have a shortage.
Try your hand at Scenic Hills Country Club, the ONLY course in Florida to host a US Open. Want something with a beachier vibe? Lost Key Golf Club in Perdido Key is a great choice. Affectionately known as “Lost Ball Golf Club”, this course is not one to take lightly. Honestly, when it comes to golf, your options are endless: Marcus Pointe, Osceola, Perdido Bay, and even Bogey’s Golf Suites if a rainy day is keeping you from playing on the course!
But of course, if a casual spot to hang out with the guys is all you need, the vibes in Pensacola are infinite and immaculate: Garden & Grain for something fun and tucked away, Sneaky Tiki for something that feels like it’s on a remote island, O’Riley’s Irish Pub (Uptown OR Downtown) if you want to sing some Irish drinking songs, The Well if you want something smooth and jazzy, or Seville Quarter if you just really want to party!
I could go on forever with recommendations, but the choice is entirely yours. Bachelor trips look different for every guy, but Pensacola offers something for everyone. Throw some axes at Grizzly Axes, jump on a Pensacola Pedal Trolley while taking in the sites and a cold one, go on a ghost tour, or tag Graffiti Bridge with your wedding hashtag (I’m sure your fiancée will appreciate that you paid attention to AT LEAST that).
